An apparel brand runs its core catalog from its own warehouse and a small custom-art line through Printful - a customer picks a design, a size, and a shirt color, and the order syncs to Printful's queue automatically the moment checkout completes. A customer orders a large in the fox-and-pine design, then opens the order status page nine minutes later to change it to a medium. She's used this exact flow before, on a warehouse hoodie, and it worked fine. This time the eligibility engine checks the edit window, checks that the medium is "in stock," and lets the swap through. What she doesn't know is that Printful pulled the order via its API about ninety seconds after checkout, queued the print job, and by the time her swap goes through, a large fox-and-pine shirt is already under the press. Her order status page now says medium. The box that ships two days later says large, because that's the only shirt that ever actually got made.

- Stop treating "in stock" as a safety signal on a flagged line item at all - an unlimited or always-available print-on-demand variant tells you nothing about whether it's safe to change, so the gate has to run on time elapsed since order creation instead.
- Route any size, color, or design change on a flagged line item to manual review or an automatic block by default once the provider's sync window has passed, instead of letting it auto-apply the way an edit on a warehouse SKU would.
- If the print-on-demand integration exposes an order-update or cancel call before print starts, use it to attempt a pull-back the moment the edit is submitted - and don't show the customer a successful swap until that call confirms the original job was actually stopped.
